The concierge at The Bowery recommended
La Esquina (The Corner), a Mexican restaurant only a few blocks away. Once there, we met Vanessa, who was in town from Montréal at McGill University.

The outside of the restaurant looks like a diner, on the corner of Kenmare and Lafayette in SoHo.

But once inside the diner, patrons are shown to stairs leading to a basement restaurant.

But surprise: no guacamole.

Everyone ordered
platanos machos fritos and
pollo rostizado and
rajas y crema taquitos instead.

And then walked back to the hotel.
Till tomorrow,
Love, Maia
