Monkey Bar New York City

Two days after we returned from Chicago for Brooke's wedding gown fitting, we flew to New York for business.

We went to Fendi on 5th Avenue, to say hello to Takashi and Mirella and Mandi, who Michael is going to marry. Mandi wore the Fendi Rose Dress for us. Felicia thanked Mirella for the Dr. Bach's Rescue Remedy Pastilles that Mirella gave her for the flight home last time. They worked great, but the Randy Gerber Margaritas that Northwest is serving now worked even better. Felicia can't wait to get on a plane again, now. Three of them just about did the trick.

That night, the three of them--not the drinks--left me at the hotel while they went to Graydon Carter's new hotspot, The Monkey Bar. Carter's other place, The Waverly Inn, doesn't even have a phone number. The Monkey Bar only takes email reservations.

The restaurant had taken down the sign that used to be by the door. All there is now is a tiny bas-relief monkey. Felicia spoke with the wonderful gentleman who stood at the unmarked door next to the Hotel Elysée. She said, "I hear that they took down the Monkey Bar sign." The cute gentleman responded, "I AM the sign!" He was funny and gracious. So were the staff when they asked us to take no more photos.

After dinner, we walked home by the Coach store.

We had to admit, the clothes weren't as bad as some close friends of ours like to say they are!
Till tomorrow,
Love, Maia
