As we walked up 57th Street near Fifth Avenue, Felicia got a phone call. It was Dolce.
We had just passed by Louis Vuitton (above), when Dolce called to complain that her plane had been late and she missed her connecting flight! Felicia had been trying to save money on airfare and wouldn't let Dolce take the easiest, direct flight, but instead, routed her through Chicago to save a few bucks! Her journey to New York was canceled! Mankind, on August 9, would remain the same!
All we could do was sympathize with her as we admired the J Crew window displays. Felicia read in the Wall Street Journal that Loro Piana supplies wool to the "lightweight" J Crew cashmere sweaters. She bought a couple at the J Crew store near Michael's apartment when we were in the City over Easter (see Sunday April 12 post).
Dolce wanted us to go to 5F at Bergdorf's and buy her something special. 5F has Joie (pronounced "Shoo-wah' in French, meaning, Joy), 3.1 Phillip Lim, Cynthia Rowley and Theory. We tried on Theory hoodies. Softer than Gap! Elie Tahari used to own Theory. He sold it. Now he lives in SoHo, in Rupert Murdoch's old apartment. Rupert moved to a three story townhouse in the UES. He bought WSJ and MySpace at the peak of the market. Now only his cable business makes money. But...Takashi was just styling and taking photos for the MySpace magazine in Japan while we were in NYC! Small world.
From Bergdorf's, we headed to Morgenthal Frederics on Madison. Brooke had to feed her one-new-pair-of-glasses-per-month habit.
Felicia and Brooke then displayed their uncanny ability to choose the same top in a different color (these two by Gryphon). (Felicia's white Fendi peek-a-boo was in the room, but she loved the buttery feel and acid green color of her 3.1 Phillip Lim purse.)
But first they had to pay attention to two little apricot toy poodles on 57th. Not as cute as Peaches, but close.
Then we all headed back to the hotel. It was time to get ready for Butter.
Till tomorrow,
Love, Maia
