Dolce Breaks her Leg!

Meet Dolce. I was going to wait to introduce you to the one who took my place as the littlest and youngest dog in the pack, but she fell off the bed last night and broke both her "left proximal radius and left distal ulna." Felicia took her to the Emergency Animal Hospital and was there at 9PM when it happened and returned home at 1AM, $500 poorer. Here she is (top), playing with Peaches, and in her cast (middle and bottom), waiting to get in the car for the drive to Detroit. The blue cast is larger than she is.

Of course these types of things always happen on a Saturday night, so that everywhere is closed on Sundays for surgery. But the local vet was open on Sunday, and looked at her, and does not have a "pin" small enough for her tiny bones. MSU could have taken her in surgery on Tuesday, but Felicia did not want to wait that long, so she is driving today, Sunday, to Bloomfield Hills to the Oakland Vet Referral Service there.

Dolce will be operated on on Monday. And the good news is, she is so tiny and such a baby, that her bones will heal fast. This is why she needs to be looked at right away. Felicia has learned: do not put babies on beds. Glad it didn't happen to me!
