Dolce Update

As America voted today, Dolce was being operated on. She went in sometime after 3PM and was ready to have her incision "closed" after 5PM. The Oakland Vet Referral office is efficient and available at all hours of the night so India and Felicia can call to see how she's doing. As of seven PM tonite, she was resting comfortably. The Dr. "plated" her fracture and she is in recovery, according to a vet assistant. The office will call tomorrow to let Felicia know when she can drive to Detroit and bring her home.

When she is brought home, Dolce will not be allowed to run around. She will either have to be in her cage or on a leash. She may sit in Felicia's lap (rats, no room for me!), but only on a leash, in case she jumps down. The last thing everyone wants is for Dolce to re-break her leg before it heals. India and Felicia were talking about how different it feels around the house without Dolce's little shrieks. Even though she's only lived at Twin Oaks for four weeks, the household routine is vastly changed to include her. Felicia would bring her to India's college to pick her up on weekends, and she would walk along with the other dogs while taking walks. She got very indignant if she wasn't included, even though taking five dogs for a walk is like herding cats...not easy.

Not to mention, people roll down their car window to ask Felicia if she is a professional dog walker. I can tell people think she's a little kooky...and maybe anyone who has five dogs IS. But we all get along and look what happens when one of us is gone...it's just not the same. Pictures: India in front of Dolce's "room" the day we brought her home from Chicago. Dolce trying to walk in the blue cast that's longer than her leg. And me waiting in the vet's office in Bloomfield Hills, worried about Dolce and worried they're going to leave me there too!
